THE BAROCKZENTRUM

The concert series “BarockZentrum Heiliggeist” was founded in 2012 by Marc Fitze, the current organist of the Heiliggeistkirche, with the basic idea from the outset to make the excellent original acoustics of the baroque Heiliggeistkirche available for concerts in the field of historically informed performance practice and to offer a platform where Bernese ensembles and internationally renowned early music artists can meet. The Heiliggeist parish has been won as a partner for this project and a team of volunteers to provide further support. An important concern is that early music should not be presented in “museum garb”, but should be rooted in the present and enter into an exchange with contemporary music. Baroque music thus forms a central part of the program, which is open to different interpretative approaches and references to other styles and artistic genres. The concert series comprises 4 to 5 concerts per year.
